Sustainability Practices

The floral industry can only thrive thanks to the resources that nature provides. I place an emphasis on studying and implementing sustainable practices in order to protect the environment that serves all of us.

I choose to source the majority of the flowers I use from regional farmers and I live with a critical eye towards the larger floral industry. I do not use dyed or artificially bleached product and I never, ever, use floral foam in my work.

When harvesting wild design elements, I do so responsibly;

  • I use clean + well-maintained steel tools
  • I use my knowledge of proper pruning techniques
  • I cut healthy, pest and disease-free plants
  • I only harvest plants that we can identify
  • I am respectful of tribal boundaries
  • I obtain harvest permits where necessary

I will always prefer flowers that are grown immediately nearby, but I recognize that for some designs this is not feasible. For event designs requiring large quantities or specific varieties of flowers, I maintain the ability to visit my friends at the regional wholesale flower markets.
